Duplicates
Reports → Duplicates (/reports/duplications) finds contacts that are probably the same person or company: the same phone, the same email, or a very similar name. Use it after an import, or when search shows two cards for one customer.

What to do with a match
- Open both contacts and check phone, email, tax ID, and balance.
- Choose the card you want to keep. That should be the one with the correct name and the history you trust.
- Merge. Documents, payments, visits, messages, and reminders move onto the card you keep. The other card is removed from the normal list.
- If they are not the same person, leave them. Similar names are not always duplicates.
Merging cannot be casually undone. Check the balances before you confirm. Two real customers who share a family phone should not be merged.
Permissions
View, create, edit, delete, and print. Create and edit here mean running a merge, not inventing a new contact. You still need contact edit rights for the records involved.
Tips
- Import the file once. A second import of the same sheet is the usual way duplicates appear. See Excel import.
- A match on name alone is weaker than a match on phone or tax ID. Open the cards before merging.
- After a merge, search for the old name. It should land on the card you kept.
