Cinema
Home → Cinema appears only when the company’s industry is a cinema industry: training center (35), cinema (62), theater (63), or concert venue (64). Other industries do not see the menu, and opening /cinema sends you to Access denied. Industry 35 also has Lessons, so that company sees both. Rooms are shared.
The menu has Sessions (/cinema) and Rooms (/rooms).
Use sessions to say which film plays in which room, then sell or reserve seats.
Sessions
Columns: film, room, branch, start date, end date, start time, duration, free seats, and status. ID is hidden until you show it. Filter the film name by contains or equals.
Add opens a session. You need the cinema sessions permission (view, create, edit, delete, print).
| Field | Required | Meaning and rules |
|---|---|---|
| Branch | Yes | Where the screen is |
| Room | Yes | A room in that branch. Rooms for other branches are not the right pick. Add new opens Rooms if you may create them |
| Film | Yes | A catalog service. The service duration is copied onto the session when the service has one. Add new opens the catalog if you may create services |
| Start date | Yes | First day the session runs |
| End date | Yes | Last day |
| Start time | Yes | Time of day, in 5-minute steps |
| Duration (minutes) | Yes | Whole number, at least 1 |
| Active | No | On by default. An inactive session drops off the selling list |
Free seats on the list are the seats on that room’s map that are not sold, held, or reserved.
Tickets and seats
Tickets opens the seat board.
- Pick the date.
- Pick a session that day.
- The room map shows the screen and the seats.
- Select free seats. The legend is free, selected, sold, held, reserved, and VIP.
- Optionally choose the contact the seats are for.
- Reserve seats holds them on that contact.
Sold seats cannot be selected again. Held and reserved seats are spoken for and should be released or sold through the same board rather than double-booked.
A film with no seat map cannot sell numbered seats. Draw the map on the room first.
Draw a seat map
Open the room and choose the seat map. You need permission to edit rooms. The map is empty until you generate it.
| Control | Default | Rules |
|---|---|---|
| Rows | 8 | Whole number from 1 to 40 |
| Seats per row | 12 | Whole number from 1 to 40 |
| Aisle after seat | 6 | A gap is inserted after this seat number. 0 means no aisle. Maximum 39 |
| Screen position | Top | Top, right, bottom, or left |
| Generate seats | — | Builds a new grid and replaces the seats on screen. Save to keep it |
| Add row | — | Adds one more row using the seats-per-row number |
Click a seat to cycle it: standard, then VIP, then blocked, then removed. Click a plus in a gap to put a seat back. Click the row number to remove the whole row. Click the seat number to type a name of up to 32 characters. If you leave the name empty, the seat keeps its number.
Colors default to light blue for free, blue for selected, gray for sold, amber for held, cyan for reserved, amber for VIP, and gray for blocked. Change a color with the picker. The color is stored with the room.
Save writes the map. If any seat has already been sold, the map locks: Generate and Add row are disabled, and saving a changed layout is refused with a message that the map has sold seats. You can still close it. Sell or release those seats before you redraw.
Seat states when selling
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Free | Standard seat, available |
| VIP | A free seat marked VIP. It can still be selected |
| Selected | In the current sale, not saved yet |
| Held | Temporarily held |
| Reserved | Reserved for a contact |
| Sold | Paid or issued. Cannot be selected |
| Blocked | Not a seat for sale. Drawn as blocked and skipped |
A blocked seat is a layout choice. Sold, held, and reserved come from tickets, not from the drawing click.
Rooms
Cinema → Rooms is the same room list described under Lessons: branch (optional), name (required), and color. Open the seat map from the room.
Permissions
Cinema sessions are one module (view, create, edit, delete, print). Rooms are a separate module with the same rights. Selling seats uses the session screen. If you can view sessions but not edit rooms, you can still reserve seats on a map someone else drew.
Tips and common problems
- The menu is missing on a non-cinema company. That is expected.
- Film list is empty: add the film as a service in the catalog, not as a product.
- Duration must be at least 1 minute. It fills from the service when the service has a duration.
- Branch, room, film, both dates, start time, and duration are required.
- Free seats stay blank or zero until the room has a seat map.
- You cannot pick a sold seat. Pick a free one, or release the sold booking first.
